 My dear Chase

You are such a wonderful and thoughtful young man and I love to be around you. But I have to tell you you worry way too much. You and I talked about that and you said you either pray or you go talk to your daddy about things that concern you. Right now you’re worried about the war in Iran. Your family flew to Orlando this winter to go on a cruise, so Papa and I met you over there and spent the afternoon and evening with you guys. I bought you a cross necklace, and told you when you get worried to hold that neck necklace and remember that God is listening to you and he does not want you to worry. . I told you that Bowen and Caden wear one all the time so about a week later you sent me a text and said I love the necklace you bought me, I haven’t taken it off and I don’t plan on it. It looks cool. That makes Grammy happy, I hope it helps you a little bit, honey. Just remember, God loves you more than anything and he doesn’t want you to worry.

When we met in Orlando, we went to a smaller aquarium and there was an interactive puzzle like thing where you had to determine a dozen animals if they were invasive or natural. You did it in like two seconds. And the girl that was standing there said they were all right. Of course they were, we had no doubt you would get them all right. You are such a smart guy.

You asked your dad a little while ago if Bryce and Josh were getting married, and he said he didn’t know and asked you why. And you said well you had never been to a wedding and some of your friends had been to weddings. And you heard there was a lot of food. You are too funny

 My dear Chase,

In a couple months, you’ll be a teenager. I can’t believe how fast the time has gone. You are just the sweetest ever. You spent a week with me again this summer, your last week before school. And you were always so polite and so considerate papa and I bought tickets for the whole family to go to the Steeler preseason game. And you thanked me twice for taking you.

The day after Papa and I took you all you guys home I was to have surgery for a hip replacement. You sent me a note that night that said good luck on your surgery tomorrow. Not everybody remembers to say those things.

This year you really wanted to learn how to water ski, So we went up to the lake house two different days for you to try. Your parents weren’t even there, so I was very impressed that you chose to keep getting up time after time. That took a lot of courage you did finally get up but fell right back down. You said to me be honest do you think I couldn’t get my picture on the board.? Because we have pictures up at the lake house and when someone Learns to ski we take a picture and I put the name and year on it. And Papa says absolutely you’re gonna get your picture on the board this year. We were all pretty excited you were able to get up.

 My sweet Chase,

You are just the sweetest ever, and you are so polite. You and your family came to Florida to visit Papa and I in April and of course Papa always makes breakfast pancakes and bacon and you said to him “good breakfast papa thank you“ you were just always so polite about everything.

You sure are growing fast. I can’t believe how fast it’s gone. Your dad sent me a video of you In your dance class at school. You were a great little dancer. I hope you keep up with it. I was very impressed.

 My dear Chase,

You guys came home for Christmas and you got there in the dark. There was some snow on our deck and your three kids went out there and played for close to an hour throwing snow around and just having a ball.

We always try to go skiing with all the cousins if the weather cooperates. And you do enjoy it a lot. You do get very nervous, but you kept at it. And I am so proud of you. You only get to ski once or twice a year so it is pretty hard to learn how. And you wanted to go down the big hill, and you actually did go down it twice. I was just so happy and proud you kept at it.

You are such a sweet young boy and I love you to pieces.

 My sweet Chase

You sent papa and I a card after Lucy died. You drew a dog and out of the dogs mouth. It says I love you Papa and Grammy. And then you wrote. I hope you think of all the amazing times you had with her instead of being sad that she is gone sad I missed her and we will love her forever. Oh Chase that is the sweetest thing ever just makes me cry how sweet you are.

 My dear Chase

Papa and I were just at your house this past weekend and you are just the sweetest boy ever. You have such great manners. And whenever we went out to walk Lucy in the morning or evening, you always said you wanted to go with us. Even when Papa went to pick up pizza, he wanted to go with him. That makes us feel so happy. 

You were in the middle school this year and you certainly do enjoy it. You are an extremely smart guy and do very well at school, and I sure am proud of you.

After we got home, we had to take Lucy to the vet because there was a couple meals she did not want and she was breathing kind of hard. We found out she is full of cancer. I had your daddy tell you guys. Because you have always loved Lucy. You sent me a text and asked me if I was OK, And also said you were really sorry about Lucy And asked if I would be OK. How sweet is that?

 My sweet Chase,

We just celebrated the Fourth of July last week and you guys were so excited to be there. You love coming to the lake house with all your cousins. Before you come, I always get the sweetest texts from you stating how excited you are to come. You were growing your hair a little longer right now, you are starting to care about how you look and you wanted your hair to look like Bowen’s. It looks so nice on you, but it sure does make you look a lot more mature. When you left the Lakehouse, you hugged everyone and said bye and I love you. How sweet is that?

I love you so much Chase and you are such a good boy. I feel so bad I don’t get to see you more often.
